Nenad VUCINIC

Career: Nelson Giants (New Zealand-NBL, 1996-2002), OKK Beograd (Serbia-YUBA, 2002-03), Nelson Giants (New Zealand-NBL, 2003-08)

International career: NZ Tall Blacks assistant coach 2001-06 (2002 FIBA World Championship, 2004 Athens Olympics, 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, 2006 FIBA World Championship). Head coach 2007-present.

Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Vucinic came to New Zealand in his teens and played his entire NBL career for Nelson.
He was first selected for the National Team in 1992 and made his last international appearance at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. As a player, Vucinic was voted to the NBL All-Star Five in 1990. Honoured as NBL Coach of the Year five times (most recently in 2006), he guided Nelson to titles in 1998 and 2007. After stepping down as Giants coach following their most recent success, he owned the record for the most NBL coaching wins at 164. After six years as Tab Baldwin’s assistant with the Tall Blacks, he took over the New Zealand reins in 2007 for the Olympic qualifying series against Australia.
