Career: Peristeri (Greece-HEBA, 1996-2004), AEK (Greece-HEBA, 2004-06), Panellinios (Greece-HEBA, 2006-07), Real Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2007-08)
Michalis Pelekanos could prove to be a real asset this summer as Greece attempt to reach the Beijing Games. The 27-year-old is quick and defends well. His leaping ability leads to spectacular dunks and unexpected blocked shots by Pelekanos, a 1.97m small forward. It took him a while to earn a place in the Greece National Team’s final roster but he finally did last summer for EuroBasket 2007. In Madrid, he was unlucky as a sprained ankle cut down on his playing time. He made a huge step in his career, going from Panellinios to Real Madrid. He did not receive many minutes in the Spanish capital, but that has left him rested and with a point to prove.
