Career: Ilirija Ljubljana (Slovenia-Division 1B, 2003-04), Geoplin Slovan (Slovenia-Division 1A, 2004-06), Murcia (Spain-ACB, 2006-07)
The EuroBasket in Spain was a coming out party for young point guard Goran Dragic. Unknown to the fans and even some opponents, Dragic was able to surprise everybody and do as he pleased. While he struggled in the ACB with Murcia in 2006-07, this young player is a true a diamond in the rough. Back home with Olimpija Ljubljana this season, Dragic, a full-time member of the starting five, averaged 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 13 Euroleague games, even if he struggled a bit at the beginning of the season. Whether he starts or not for Slovenia is irrelevant. Pipan will give the exciting talent plenty of minutes – he averaged 25 per game at last year’s EuroBasket.
