Career: Brotnjo Citluk (Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1-Div), Cibona Zagreb (youth team), Benston (Croatia-A1, 1999-00), Cibona Zagreb (Croatia-A1, 2000-03), New Jersey Nets (NBA, 2003-06), Tau Ceramica (Spain-Liga ACB, 2006-08). Selected in the first round (#22) of the 2003 NBA draft.
Like Repesa, Planinic was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina and first played professionally there. He was then recruited by Cibona Zagreb and was seen as one of the most promising players at this time. At almost 20, he was already the starting point guard of Cibona and led the team to Croatian domestic titles in 2001 and 2002. In 2003, he made himself available for the NBA Draft and the New Jersey Nets selected him in the first round. He spent three frustrating years in the United States without seeing much playing time and decided to return to Europe in 2006. At TAU Vitoria, he has developed into one of the best point guards in Spain and the Euroleague. He has good size for the position and possesses good passing and shooting skills.
